Por su parte la congresista republicana Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, ex presidente del Comité de Asuntos Exteriores de la Cámara, estará acompañada de un familiar de uno de los pilotos de Hermanos al Rescate que perdiera la vida al ser derribado su avión por cazas cubanos en 1996.

La publicación Washington Examiner da a conocer este lunes que el senador Marco Rubio tiene planeado hacerse acompañar al discurso del Estado de la Unión que el martes pronunciará el presidente Barack Obama por Rosa María Payá, hija del opositor Oswaldo Payá fallecido en un accidente en 2012, para protestar por la acción ejecutiva del presidente que tiene por objeto normalizar las relaciones con Cuba.
Rosa María es activista del Movimiento Cristiano Liberación, cuyo padre, Oswaldo Payá, uno de los disidentes más conocidos de Cuba, fundara en 1988.
La familia Payá sostiene que los hermanos Castro orquestaron el accidente en el que perdiera la vida el opositor, mientras que el gobierno cubano afirma que el conductor perdió el control del vehículo y chocó contra un árbol. El gobierno cubano se ha negado a permitir una investigación y ha retenido una copia del informe de la autopsia.
Por su parte la congresista republicana Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, ex presidente del Comité de Asuntos Exteriores de la Cámara, estará acompañada de un familiar de uno de los pilotos de Hermanos al Rescate que perdiera la vida al ser derribado su avión por cazas cubanos en 1996.
En febrero de ese año, los miembros de Hermanos al Rescate estaban en un par de Cessna que volaba sobre aguas internacionales cerca de la isla. La Fuerza Aérea Cubana disparó a los aviones desde el

Ros-Lehtinen ha invitado a Marlene Alejandre Triana, la hija de Armando Alejandre, un condecorado veterano de Vietnam y uno de los pilotos que murieron en el derribo de las avionetas de 1996.
Previamente el lunes, la Casa Blanca anunció que Alan Gross, un subcontratista recientemente liberado por el gobierno cubano después de cinco años de prisión, será uno de los invitados de la primera dama Michelle Obama en el Estado de la Unión, junto con la esposa del excontratista Judy Gross.
La liberación de Gross se produjo el mismo día que Obama anunció su decisión de restablecer relaciones diplomáticas con Cuba, la cual es vista por los que apoyan la nueva relación con Cuba como una consecuencia positiva de aflojar las restricciones a la nación de la isla.
La semana pasada, el gobierno de Obama publicó un nuevo reglamento con varias modificaciones a los viajes comerciales y empresariales entre los EE.UU. y Cuba.
Los opositores a la medida advirtieron que Obama actuó demasiado precipitadamente sin presionar por acciones concretas que beneficien al pueblo cubano, como elecciones libres y otras concesiones de derechos humanos, antes de bajar las sanciones contra el gobierno cubano.

Jan. 19 - House Speaker John Boehner (R., Ohio) will host Cuban resistance leader Jorge Luis Garcia Perez, known as Antunez, among his guests at Tuesday night’s State of the Union address.
Guests connected to Cuba, with whom the U.S. is easing trade and travel rules for the first time in 50 years, received some of the most high-profile invitations this year to attend the president’s Tuesday night address before Congress.
Prominent Republicans have divided over President Barack Obama’s recent move to ease travel and trade restrictions with the island. Mr. Boehner, along with Sen. Marco Rubio (R., Fla.) and other Cuban-American lawmakers, have criticized the administration’s steps to normalize relations, while Sen. Rand Paul (R., Ky.) has backed the president’s decision.
Mr. Rubio has also invited a figure connected to the Cuban resistance to Tuesday night’s speech: Rosa Maria Payá, the daughter of slain Cuban activist Oswaldo Payá.
Alan and Judy Gross will join First Lady Michelle Obama in the box she shares with Jill Biden, the vice president’s wife, the White House announced Monday. Mr. Gross is the veteran international development worker freed last month after spending five years in a Cuban jail.
Antunez, the Cuban dissident who will watch Tuesday night’s speech in Mr. Boehner’s box, spent more than 17 years in a Cuban jail, according to the speaker’s office. Also attending will be Antunez’s wife.
Mr. Boehner’s other guests include Cardinal Donald Wuerl, the archbishop of Washington, and students and faculty of the Consortium of Catholic Academies, a nonprofit organization supporting inner-city Catholic elementary schools in Washington.
The top House Republican will also host a group of families and businessmen from his Ohio district north of Cincinnati, including Aaron and Betsy Ward, owners of A&B Cake and Coffee Company in Greenville; Jamie McGregor, owner of McGregor Metal Working in Springfield; Fritz Borke, president and chief executive of Borke Molds in West Chester; and Dr. Jo Alice Blondin, president of Clark State Community College in Clark County.
“Speaker Boehner’s guests highlight the people and issues too often forgotten by the Obama administration, including his own constituents in Ohio, who are struggling with rising costs — especially for health care–and stagnant wages” as well as “students trapped by bureaucracy in failing schools, and victims of the continuing tyranny on Cuba,” said Michael Steel, a spokesman for Mr. Boehner.
